Synopsis:

Sheetz Vs. Wawa: The Movie will follow filmmaker Matthew Fridg as he sets out to settle the great PA convenience store debate once and for all and in the process learn why the fierce love of two convenience stores in Pennsylvania matters to people everywhere.

Film Overview:

The film will follow filmmaker Matthew Fridg as he sets out on a quest to determine which is better, Sheetz or Wawa. This means recruiting some of Pennsylvania’s brightest minds in branding, advertising, retail and social science to develop an unbiased rubric in which to score each store.

Then each store will be put through its paces…convenience, cleanliness, food, coffee, community, and more. Coffee cupping with professional coffee roasters, detailed taste tests with America’s Test Kitchen, and the ultimate mom test of each store…just to name a few.

In the film will be interviews with Wawa & Sheetz CEOs, experts in the retail/convenience store industry as well as social and behavioral experts.

Additionally, the film will explore the stories of fans whose lives have intersected with Sheetz and Wawa in a fun, interesting, weird, or heartwarming way.

Finally, the film will investigate why rivalries even exist and what learning about them can reveal about ourselves. In doing so, maybe we’ll realize that we actually have more in common with those on the other side than we thought.

Filmmaker Bio:

Matthew Fridg was born and raised in the hometown of actor Jimmy Stewart, Indiana, PA. After graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2006, he worked as a set lighting technician for feature films and major commercials in Pittsburgh. In 2008 he became a full-time director at PMI, a Pittsburgh based production company, and later took over as the head of production. He took a short break for filmmaking to further his education and spend some time in ministry. In 2015 he graduated from Liberty University with a MA in Pastoral Counseling. Not long after, he joined Vinegar Hill, a production company named after the area of his hometown where Jimmy Stewart lived as a child. He started getting the itch to start his own company. So earlier this year he founded HeadSpace Media, the production company behind Sheetz Vs. Wawa: The Movie.

He has produced work for Facebook, Discovery Channel, Freethink, GNC, Martin Guitar, Siemens, UPMC, Velocity Network, Visit PA and more.
